How to Improve Your Vision and Eyes
How to Improve Your Vision and Eyes
At the age of 16, I went to the eye doctor for an eye exam and found out my eye got bad. It went from 20/20 to 20/30 on my right eye, but luckily my left eye stayed 20/20. I was playing too much video games and on the computer every day. At the age of 18, I went to the eye doctor once again for another eye exam. This time my left eye went from 20/20 to 20/30 while my right eye was already at 20/30. I was told I needed glasses soon, but I could wait until I absolutely needed them. Then came age 20, I went for another eye exam. My left eye stayed 20/30 while my right eye became 20/40. I needed glasses then. I got the prescription for glasses, but never got them ordered. Three years later, I was 23 and my eye exam showed 20/40 on my left eye and 20/60 on my right eye. If I don’t wear glasses now it’d be illegal and dangerous to drive, especially at night. This time I ordered my prescription glasses.
Immediately when I got home, I started researching on the web and read physical books on eyes and improving your vision. I talked to many friends with both good and bad vision to see what I could learn from them. After 1 week my prescription glasses still didn’t come and my eyes were still naked. I did a ton of research and experiment using trials and errors scientifically for the next 2 weeks before my glasses came. I never had to wear these prescription lenses because by the time my glasses came, I went to a different eye doctor for an exam and found out my left eye became 20/30 and my right eye became 20/40 again. The diet and the eye exercises along with the Gunnar protection glasses helped improved my vision. Here’s what I did below:
Eat carrots
I went to Costco and bought a big bag of baby organic carrots. I would eat it raw and blend it over the next 3 weeks and still currently do it. The Vitamin A in carrots exists as Beta Carotene, so it’s safe to eat as much as you can. This helped my eyes see a little better during the day, but a lot better at night.
Eat fatty fish/fish oil
I started eating fish such as Salmon and taking a fish oil supplement seriously everyday now and the Omega 3 helps the brain focus which will help the images seen by the eyes clearly.
Eat eggs
I started consuming from 2 to 6 eggs a day for the Lutein (and protein because I was Powerlifting) in eggs. Lutein is very important for the eyes and it helps your eyes from going blind. Also, the eye yolk is very healthy as long as you don’t eat a diet high in carbs (1 gram of carbs or less per pound of bodyweight; preferably 0.5 gram per lb of bodyweight if you want to be really healthy).
Wear protection glasses
A friend of mine recommended buying some Gunnar glasses to protect my eyes against anti-glare and UV (Ultra Violet) & Infrared lights. These glasses are very useful for anyone who watches TV a lot or sits on the computer hours daily. I would highly suggest getting them in this day and age. I bought mine on Amazon.com. After wearing them for 2 weeks, my eyes were much more relaxed and less strained.
Do eye exercises
There were 2 eye exercises I did. The first one was to find 2 objects, one 1 foot away and the other 10 feet away. I focused on them repeatedly changing from the close to far object after 30 seconds for about 5 minutes a day. After I got good with them, I switched to 2 objects with one 2 feet away and the other 20 feet away. Then it is 3 feet versus 30 feet objects.
The other eye exercise was reading some letters with 1 eye at a time 20 feet away at font 60. I started at font 60 since that was the best my worst eye could see from the eye exam. The letters were also randomly generated and sometimes I used words as well. After I mastered font 60, I switched to font 55. Then down to 50, 45, 40, 35, 30, 25, and finally I got to 20. Three weeks later I got my vision back from 20/40 left eye and 20/60 right eye to 20/30 left eye and 20/40 right eye. Three months later, it improved again to 20/20 left eye and 20/30 right eye. It was unbelievable. I learned that your eyes can improve as long as they weren’t permanently damaged.
Place warm cloth over eyes
To rest my burning and dry eyes, I also soak a clean cloth into very warm water every day after work and place it on my eyes for 10 minutes. Then when the cloth became cool, I would soak it into very warm water again and place it on my eyes for another 10 minutes. I would do this for a total of 3 sets or 30 minutes. This helps the eye muscles recover from the strains and dryness faster. It relaxes your eyes so you won’t go blind. Make sure to get a clean and somewhat thick cloth. Also, squeeze most of the water off before placing it into your eyes and make sure the cloth isn’t hot that it burns your hands holding it.
